I traveled to Portland, Oregon in the summer of 2013, and made a very intentional detour to Lost Lake near the base of Mt Hood with three of my best friends. We rented a small rowboat, paddled across this beautiful alpine lake, and sat quietly as the sun started to dip over the horizon. Serendipitously, this female Northern Goshawk cruised silently over our boat just as I was grabbing my camera. I feel fortunate to have made this beautiful frame of her as she flew into the sunset.
Turns out, the highlight of my trip to Portland wasn’t in Portland. Go figure.
